Chapter 3

Before I start, I must express my gratitude to CharlottesCookie for the stunning book cover. It’s truly beautiful!

Jungkook’s POV

This human… her blood smells achingly familiar. A phantom taste lingers on my tongue, as if I’ve savored it before.

Kim Chae Eun…

Who *are* you? Why does my instinct scream for her, why does her scent ignite such a primal hunger?

“I want your blood…”

The words slipped out before I could restrain them. I leaned in, drawn to her neck, and a wave of near-feral control threatened to overwhelm me as her sweet scent flooded my senses.

“Pardon?”

She recoiled, stumbling back a step, her voice trembling with fear.

I gripped her arms firmly, feeling the pulse of her veins beneath my touch. My fangs ached, lengthening, and my vision blurred with crimson haze.

“It smells so sweet…”

She stood frozen, hands gripping my shirt, pleading for me to stop. But the scent… the intoxicating allure of her blood… I couldn’t resist it.

Chae Eun’s POV

Lost in thought, I barely registered his approach. What *is* he doing to me?

His hands felt icy against my skin, sending shivers down my spine. He brushed a strand of hair away from my neck, tilting his head, studying me with an intensity that stole my breath.

“So sweet…”

He closed his eyes, his warm breath ghosted across my skin, and my body seemed to shut down, all thought and sensation extinguished.

Then, two sharp, piercing pricks at my neck. Like needles sliding deep.

“Ahh! Jungkook-sshi!”

I tightened my grip on his shirt, desperate to push him away, but his hold only tightened, drawing me closer.

Suddenly, a force yanked him back. Seok Jin, if I wasn’t mistaken, had intervened.

“Hyung, let me go!”

Jungkook struggled against Jin’s grip, his voice raw with desperation.

“Jungkook, control yourself. Control… calm down.”

Jin’s voice was firm, yet laced with concern.

I just stood there, numb, touching the spot on my neck where the needles had pierced. It stung.

“Ouch!”

I winced, squinting my eyes against the pain.

“Take Jungkook out of here.”

Namjoon commanded, his voice cutting through the tension. Jin nodded, and the struggling Jungkook was dragged away, his protests echoing down the hall.

Namjoon turned to me, his expression unreadable.

I bit my lip, still reeling from what had happened, still trying to understand Jungkook’s erratic behavior.

“Don’t ever go near him if you want to risk your life. If he fully loses control, it will be impossible for us to stop him.”

His warning sent a fresh wave of fear through me.

Before he could leave, I grabbed his shirt tightly.

“What happened to him? Why is he acting like this? And what do you mean by him losing control?”

I questioned, my voice barely a whisper.

He sighed, his gaze distant.

“We can’t tell you what we are. For now, just stay away from him. I don’t know what about you triggered his madness, but stay away from him.”

He stared at me, his eyes cold and assessing before turning on his heel and leaving me alone, reeling.

“What the hell…”

I muttered under my breath.

Shrugging off my confusion, I headed toward the cafeteria, hoping to find Ji Eun.

As I rounded the corner, my face collided with a hard chest.

A whimper escaped my lips as I rubbed my head. “Ow…”

“Sorry, are you okay?”

A deep voice apologized. I looked up into the face of a handsome stranger, smiling warmly.

He was breathtaking. Lost in admiration, I didn't notice him speaking.

“Erm… Hello? Earth to the young lady.”

He waved a hand in front of my face, tilting his head playfully.

Snapping back to reality, my cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I clenched my fist into a ball.

“O-Oh… Uh… S-Sorry about that… I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

I stammered, scratching the back of my neck.

He chuckled softly, ruffling my hair gently. A gasp escaped my lips.

“You’re so cute.”

He murmured, his voice deep and husky.

My cheeks burned with heat as he cupped my cheeks with his hands.

“I-I-I’m so s-sorry!”

I blurted out, closing my eyes.

“It’s okay.”

He removed his hands from my cheeks, and I exhaled in relief.

“I’m Sungjin, by the way. What’s your name? I haven’t seen you around here before. Are you new?”

He questioned, his smile radiating warmth.

I felt a dangerous blush creep across my cheeks.

“Oh, I-I’m Chae Eun and yeah… I-I’m new here. Nice to m-meet you… Sungjin…”

I slapped myself on the inside, mortified by my stammering.

“Chae Eun? That’s a cute name for a cute girl like you. You wanna hang out? I’m going to the library.”

He said.

“S-Sure!”

*Food can wait. Focus on Sungjin!*

“Excellent! Let’s go then.”

He slung his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer.

I bit my lips, desperately trying to suppress a fangirl squeal as we walked toward the library together.

Jungkook’s POV

“Hyung, I need her! I desperately need her blood.”

I rasped weakly as they chained me up in the familiar, sterile room. The walls, cold metal and iron bars, seemed to press in on me.

“No, Jungkook. Calm down first. You only lose control during a full moon or blood moon. What happened? Who is this girl?”

Namjoon knelt, his voice level but concerned.

“Her blood… it smells exactly like the girl from five years ago… I need it, Hyung. Please…”

Tears streamed down my cheeks, burning trails across my skin.

“The girl from five years ago? No way. She’s dead, Jungkook. Maybe she has the same DNA? That girl is dead. Come back to your senses.”

Taehyung tried to reason with me, but I was drowning in the need, the overwhelming desire.

“Aargh! I need her, Hyung! Bring her to me! I want her blood! Hye Mi!”

I screamed, her name echoing in my head.

“Come to me, Hye Mi!”
