Jung Seo-Yun

Those idiots have been taunting me for a month now. Not Jung Seo-Yun, the person, but PD – they’re targeting my position. To be honest, I’d love to find them and kill them all, but they aren’t common criminals… they’re smart. And that makes hunting them down incredibly difficult.

The last time I crossed paths with them, I was trying to save a girl who’d been abducted. She was a neighborhood kid, sweet as could be. I happened to be driving on a street near my house when I saw her being forced into a black car. I’d slipped on a mask and popped in my signature red contact lenses. I ran at them and kicked the guy shoving her inside, but his partner sped off.

I was furious with myself. Failing to protect someone snatched right in front of my eyes… I’m not stupid. I’d planted a tracker on the car. I’d been chewing gum, pressed the tracker into the gum wad, and stuck it to the edge of the window.

To my surprise, they didn’t notice. I tracked them to an old building, probably an apartment complex. That’s what the news was calling it – the PD vs. Mafia showdown, the battle… the attempt to finally wipe out those scumbags.

The good news? I got a little intel on the Mafia. A young leader. I heard his voice. Unforgettable. Almost innocent, maybe even sweet… but with an undercurrent of “I could kill you at any moment, don’t mess up.” I won’t be fooled by voices or appearances. Though I didn’t see his face, I’d guess he’s in his early twenties, maybe even younger.

The bad news? None of the abducted teens were there. I’d started tracking them a few weeks after sticking the tracker on the car, giving them plenty of time to grab more victims. I wouldn’t launch myself into a dangerous mission without a plan, and it took me a while to confirm this place was a legitimate headquarters.

Luckily, I wasn’t badly hurt. Just a few scratches and a stab wound to my upper left shoulder. Thank God it wasn’t anything vital.

I was lost in thought about the encounter when I forgot to check my surroundings. A sketchy black car pulled up behind me.

I couldn’t help but smirk.

“Finally,” I muttered to myself. This could be another lead. Should I play helpless, innocent?

Probably.

The car window slid down. They were clearly trying to avoid drawing attention to themselves. I glanced over and saw two men in black, sunglasses and hats obscuring their faces.

Is this finally another chance to get them?

I smiled and kept walking, making sure they were following. I stopped under a tree for shade and pulled out my phone. I glanced back – they were still tailing me. I smirked and held the phone to my ear.

“Hey Mom, just letting you know I’ll be home late tonight. I’m going for a walk to clear my head. Finished the homework I mentioned this morning.” I said, louder than usual. Loud enough for them to hear in the car. Of course, no one was listening. I wanted them to follow me.

I continued down the street, then turned into a narrow alley for cars and pedestrians. It did.

Perfect.

I smiled as I noticed the street was deserted. I took a few rights and lefts, finally arriving at a dead end.

“Guess I’ll just turn around?” I smirked for a few seconds, then feigned surprise as the black car appeared behind me. I couldn’t see clearly through the tinted windows, but I was sure I saw one of the men smirk. They rolled up the windows, making it harder to see inside.

Alright, let’s get this show on the road.

“W-who are you?” I stammered, my voice trembling. Two men climbed out of the car, adjusting their black sunglasses. What’s with that? Do they think it makes them look intimidating?

“Come with us, and we’ll make this easy.”
