I sigh, already bracing for the day, but grateful it’s Friday.

“Harry!”

I turned to see Georgia, my best friend since first grade. We’d been inseparable since we were seven.

“Hey Georgia.”

“Are you ready for tonight?” she asked, practically vibrating with excitement.

I grinned, remembering our tradition. “Yeah, you ready to drool over Niall all night?”

She didn’t even blink. “Yup. Are *you* ready to drool over Louis all night?” she shot back, knowing exactly where my focus would be.

“Most of my focus will be on Louis tonight, definitely,” I replied, a little heat creeping into my cheeks.

“Not surprised,” she said, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips.

“Neither am I,” I mutter, but loud enough for her to hear. We laugh as we walk into school.

.•.•.•.

The lunch bell shrieked, and I basically sprinted out of the classroom with Georgia glued to my side.

“Okay, let’s grab pizza quickly and bolt for the field,” she said, her tone urgent.

“Yeah,” I replied, bracing for the inevitable.

Me and Georgia, we’re popular loners, or at least we *try* to be. It's not that we dislike people, or think we’re better than them. It’s just… everyone at this school is either fake as hell or just plain weird.

We navigated the cafeteria, smiling at the greetings. We grabbed our pizza, practically running for the exit.

When we reached the field, we collapsed onto the grass, chatting, then scrolling through our phones.

“Oh god…” Georgia muttered, her eyes widening.

I followed her gaze. There she was: Kelsey, walking towards us.

“Why can’t she just get it into her head I’m gay?” I groaned. I heard Georgia snickering.

“Hey Harry!” Kelsey called out, her voice gratingly loud and cheerful.

“Make a run for it?” Georgia asked, already halfway to her feet. I glanced at my pizza, then back at Kelsey, weighing the options. I grabbed my bag and phone and sprinted, Georgia hot on my heels.

“Where are we gonna hide? We’ve got fifteen minutes until class starts,” she said, breathless.

“Janitor’s closet?” I asked, remembering our last escape.

“No, she found us there last time.”

“Umm, hold on…” I said, glancing back at Kelsey, who was gaining on us. “Behind the staircase. Go. Go before she turns the corner!” I practically yelled.

We dove behind the staircase, and I immediately flopped onto the ground, pretending to be invisible.

Georgia laughed, scrolling through her phone.

“I don’t get why you always do that. He’s *never* going to see it,” she said, gasping for air.

“You never know…” I said, grinning. “You got water?”

“Shit! I forgot my water bottle,” she muttered, a pout forming on her lips.

“Don’t you *dare* say it,” I warned her.

“But… it was your One Direction water bottle…” she said, her voice laced with mischief.

“You forgot my One Direction water bottle?!?” I shrieked, my voice cracking.

“You should have seen your face though!” she burst out laughing.

.•.•.•.

I smile as me and Georgia get in the car heading to my house to get ready for the marathon.

The car ride was quick, and we both changed into a pair of my sweatshirts and sweatpants. She had her own sweatpants because mine were way too big for her.

“Snacks now?” she asked, her eyes already sparkling.

We raided the kitchen, making popcorn and grabbing a mountain of candy and soda.

When we got upstairs, we turned on my TV and collapsed onto my bed with my huge fuzzy One Direction blanket.
