You’re rushing towards the backstage area, eager to see Jungkook after his final “Wings” tour concert in Korea. A year and a half of dating feels solid, serious. You navigate security quickly, anticipation bubbling with each step toward the dressing rooms.

Then, you see them. A small group to your left, and there’s Jungkook, undeniably there. A girl has her arms wrapped around him, and his are reciprocated. As you get closer, the reality hits: their lips are pressed together, a third hand capturing the moment with a phone.

Your breath hitches. The world seems to tilt. “How could he?” The words rip from your throat as you see his face fall. Without a word, you turn and run, the image seared onto your vision.

“Wait!” Jungkook’s voice booms behind you, his footsteps pounding. “(Y/n)! Please!”

“I saw what I saw!” you shout over your shoulder, refusing to look back. “There’s no justifying it. Don’t follow me.” You sprint home, collapsing onto your pillow, burying your face in the fabric, and letting the sobs come. They come in waves, slowly drowning you in grief.

The next morning, you force yourself to get dressed, attempting to shove the image of Jungkook's kiss from your mind. Routine might offer a sliver of normalcy. You pull on your coat and head towards your favorite Starbucks.

You push open the door, but your heart stops. There he is, Jungkook, holding a cup, your favorite drink. Tears well up instantly. You turn and flee, blurring through the crowd, desperate to put distance between you and him.

Home again, you slam the door shut and slide down the wood, face buried in your hands, and let the tears flow. The doorbell rings. You wipe your eyes, forcing composure, and open the door. It's Jungkook.

He’s holding the coffee he’d picked up for you. You try to shut the door, but he jams his foot in the frame, preventing it. “Please,” he pleads, his voice cracking. “Just let me explain. Please, (y/n). I love you, I’d never cheat.” His eyes are brimming with tears.

You sigh, relenting. “Fine. A few minutes.” He steps inside, wiping at his eyes.

“She was just a fan,” he says, his voice trembling. “I don’t even know her name. She had a backstage pass and asked for a photo, a kiss on the cheek. I didn’t think it would be anything. I went to kiss her cheek for the picture, and she turned at the last second. I swear, I would never cheat on you. I love you more than anything, and I’d never risk our relationship. Please believe me.” A tear streaks down his cheek as he reaches for you.

You walk into his arms, wrapping your own around him tightly. “I love you too, Kookie.”

A relieved smile floods his face. “Good,” he whispers. “I don’t know what I’d do without my favorite person in the world.” He presses a kiss to your forehead.
