Taehyung sipped his coffee, a laugh escaping as Jimin recounted a story.
“Hey, you’re moving in today, right?” Jimin asked, stirring his own coffee and fixing his gaze on Taehyung. “Are you excited?”
Taehyung nodded. “Kind of. And a little nervous. They didn’t mention a roommate until today, so it’s a bit late to back out now.” Jimin nodded in agreement, quickly finishing his coffee and then fanning his tongue with a playful gesture.
“Ith’s hath,” he said, tongue still extended.
“You little mochi,” Taehyung said, laughing and lightly patting Jimin’s head. Jimin’s cheeks flushed a delicate pink, though Taehyung attributed it to the coffee’s heat.
“Oh, shoot,” Taehyung said, glancing at the time on his phone screen. He slung his bag over his shoulder and stood up. “I’ll see you later, Jimin.”
Jimin offered a wistful smile as Taehyung departed.

Taehyung tugged his suitcase behind him, approaching the house.
“He must be here already,” he murmured to himself, noting a black car parked outside along with several moving boxes.
He walked up the porch with his suitcase, attempting to calm the frantic beat of his heart.
*Calm yourself, Taehyung.* It was just another person—
He hadn’t anticipated the door opening as he approached.
And he hadn’t expected to see *Jeon Jungkook*, the man who’d shattered his heart four years ago on the final day of school.
The same man who had professed his love one day and delivered a crushing rejection the next.
The coldness in his eyes on that day had been absolute, devoid of remorse.
It terrified Taehyung to consider how much could change within a single day. How profoundly a person could alter *him*.
Yet, here Jungkook stood, eyes brimming with tears. His voice trembled as he softly uttered Taehyung’s name.
“T-Tae.”
