(Darrel's POV)
Pony was giving me a hard time again, so I went to read the newspaper on the porch. I was aggravated. Why can't Pony just listen and try and understand what I mean?
I was busy in thought when a girl yelled towards me.
"Excuse me? Uh sir?" I looked up from the paper.
"Yes ma'am?" She looked kinda lost and confused, and I don't mean just because she was lost, I mean more in her eyes.
"Sorry but I'm new and I'm not sure where I am. Could you tell me how to get to the DX? I know my way from there." She looked around before reconnecting our eyes. Gosh, she was pretty.
"Uh yeah," I gave her the directions and she started to walk off. I was about to go back to reading, but I couldn't take my eyes off her.
Next thing I knew, I was up running after her. "Uh miss?" She turned and looked at me. Her face was soft but she looked shocked.
"Yeah?" I just looked at her gorgeous eyes.
"My names Darrel, Darrel Curtis. But you could call me Darry." He held out my hand and she shook it.
"Well Darry, I'm Mackenzie. But you can call me Mack."
She turned back around and walked away. I hadn't even noticed I'd been watching her till she was out of sight.
(Makenzie's POV)
I was lost, I'd just moved here last night. My mom, brother, and I moved because of my dad. He was a bad man and I don't like to talk about him much.
I had no idea where I was and I saw a muscular, taller man on a porch reading the paper. He looked mad, I'm guessing he does quite a bit. He looked mad at himself for being mad. He probably was just under a bit of stress.
I asked him for directions to the DX. That was the first place I saw when I was walking and I knew where to go from there. He gave me directions and I walked off.
Suddenly I heard that same man calling after me. I turned around. I don't know why, but it made me happy that he followed after me.
He introduced himself as Darrel. I really like that name. I told him my name and he smiled.
I returned that smile and walked off again. He watched me walk off with a grin on his face the whole time.
