When I got out of the room, footsteps echoed behind me. I ignored them, bracing for annoyance, until someone grabbed my waist and pulled me against the wall.
"What do you want, Draco?" I snapped, already irritable.
Our faces were inches apart, and I tasted his minty breath. It felt…wrong.
"Why did you leave?" He asked, too seriously.
"Why would I stay? I wasn’t really hungry," I rolled my eyes, feigning indifference.
"When was the last time you ate?" He acted like he cared, and that scared me. Why was Malfoy acting like this? What was he playing at?
"What?" I asked, genuinely shocked by his question.
"Tell me." He demanded, his grip tightening.
"I don't know. Like two days or something. Why do you care?"
"You’ve lost weight." So he *had* noticed before. Had he been watching me? The thought made my skin crawl. I’d changed a lot since then. Everything felt…different.
"Okay…" I said, confused by his actions.
"Why?"
"Why what?" What *was* he talking about?
"Why are you not eating?"
"Why do you care?" I snapped. I knew I shouldn’t be so mean, but I couldn't help it. I hated this feeling.
"I don't. I just want to know." And just like that, he was back to his usual self. Cold. Distant.
"Good thing I don't give a fuck," I muttered, pushing off the wall and heading for my room.
As I entered the common room, a few people were still milling around. Lunch wasn’t over yet. I still hadn’t gotten used to my new room. It didn’t feel like *mine*. Like I belonged there, like I’d spend the next four years within these walls. It felt…temporary.
I opened the door, and the first thing I saw was Pugface sprawled on her bed. When had she left the Great Hall? Was she waiting for me?
"Hello again," she smirked, and I felt my stomach twist.
I chose to ignore her and headed straight for the bathroom. I didn’t know why. I just didn’t want to see her face. But before I could do anything, I heard her open the door, and then I saw *him*. I felt my pulse quicken. It was just him. Nothing happened between us, but I felt…off balance. Like I was walking on eggshells.
"What are you doing here?" Draco asked Pansy, his voice sharp.
"You know I live here, right?" So he *had* come to see me. Weird.
Draco didn’t answer her, and I tried to be as quiet as possible while I opened the door. I needed to hurry.
"What do you want?" Pansy asked him, clearly annoyed.
"Where is she?" Oh, fuck. I had to hurry before he found me.
"Somewhere in the room, I’m not sure yet," she smirked, and I wanted to strangle her. She was deliberately making things worse.
I heard him walking toward where I was standing, and I panicked. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. That bitch.
I pulled out my wand and muttered "Alohomora," and the door clicked open.
I slipped inside, and as I closed the door, Draco’s hand blocked it.
"Where are you going so fast?" He sounded like he was joking, but his face was serious.
"Nowhere." I gave him an ironic smile and tried to close the door again. No luck.
"Let me in." It wasn’t a question. It was a command.
I gave up trying to close the door. I let him in.
"What do you wa-" Before I could finish the question, he pressed his lips to mine.
Ugh. It felt as good as I feared it would. His lips moved against mine, his hand grabbed my waist and pulled me closer. Even in the bathroom, it was too good to be true. I felt his smile against my mouth, and that made me happy. I was happy to know he enjoyed it as much as I did.
Without breaking our kiss, he whispered, "Jump." And I knew exactly where this was going.
I did as he said and jumped. He grabbed my legs and pulled them over his waist, and I felt him harden. For a moment, I almost forgot about Pansy being in the next room. Actually, I was pretty sure she was right outside, trying to hear what we were doing.
When I realized what was happening, I broke our kiss. He was still holding me on his waist, and it was awkward.
"What happened?" Draco asked, his voice laced with worry. Did he think I regretted what just happened? Did *I*? No. Definitely not.
"Pansy," I whispered.
He turned his head, looking at the door, then back at me.
"What about her?"
"I’m sure she’s outside, and I’m not really comfortable with that." I admitted, hating the vulnerability in my voice.
He let go of me and went to the door. I was scared he’d leave me here without saying anything, but instead he opened the door to check if the annoying bitch was there and then whispered, "Muffliato."
