Chapter 3: Acting

I was woken half way through the night and which I fell off my bed and onto the hard ground all by a loud horn, startling me awake. I'm really starting to hate this. Next time, I'm getting a lower bunk. This is ridiculous. My stomach is going to have bruises by the end of the season through this.

"Chris," I growled.

"All crew on set. Call time is 4 AM!" Chris shouted. Is it really that early? Ugh.

"Are you freaking serious?!" I yelled and quickly got dressed very fast. We all walked out of the trailer dead tired.

"I can't believe I'm doing another season of this show," Leshawna said.

"I can't believe I haven't killed myself yet because of this," I muttered. We waited for Chris to come back to us. He better hurry before I fall back to sleep.

"You're on a film set now, and you're gonna learn that show biz is not all red carpets and pool parties." Chris said. "Today you're gonna get schooled on how tough on set production life can be."

"Whatever, I can deal." Gwen said. "I once had a summer job at a petting zoo," I had stopped listening then and walked off with everyone else. How the hell does a petting zoo have anything to do with acting?

"Okay, let's get this split-bath started. You're gonna choose school yard style. Boy, girl, boy, girl. Ladies first. Since we have no ladies here, Gwen." Chris said.

"I don't know, Duncan?" She said. Duncan smirked and walked over towards her, joining her team willingly.

"I choose the beautiful Lindsay!" Trent said.

"Yay!"

"Because I like to keep things cool, I pick Leshawna." Gwen said.

"The girls are back in town!" She said. Trent chose Justin. Gwen chose DJ. Trent chose Beth. Gwen chose Heather. I gasped, surprised she would take her. Well, someone had to. Trent chose Owen. Gwen picked Harold. It was only Izzy and me left. Trent chose Izzy and I sighed. Just like always, I am the last to be chosen.

We were then called the Screaming Gapher's. And the other team was the Killer Grip's.

"Okay, since we're running late now, and don't seem to have any more of whatever those crew dudes? We better get going." Chris said. "Your challenge for each team to set up a film set."

"We'll be scarfing flapjacks by seven," Leshawna said.

"Oh will you?" Chris asked. "As for casein manager, I want your sets to go there." He pointed up the large mountain. Oh no. This is going to be tough.

"You just love doing this to us!" Gwen said.

"Yes, yes I do." Chris said. "Chef, clear for traffic up there! Lights, camera, actions!" I grabbed the first thing I saw to be used to for a film set and ran up the hill and set the stuff down. I ran down hill and made it towards the trailer. I was out of breath when I got back down the hill. I better have abs after this because this might just kill me with all this running around. And I hate running.

Owen was getting the trailer up there to the top of the hill and I just groaned and released a heavy breath of air. This is hard. . . I don't know if our team can do this.

"You little punk wannabe's cause your team is going down!" Trent shouted. I cracked my knuckles.

"You wanna repeat that?" I said as I gave him one of my evil, cold glares that would chill someone to the bone. I saw the fear in his eyes as he ran off with his tail between his legs.

"Oh not cool. Not cool at all." Duncan said.

"Don't worry, we're taking Trent — I mean, that team, down." Gwen said as she smirked at DJ.

"Oh no! You don't expect me to — what if the trailer slips and rolls back down the hill and possibly hurt someone? What then? I couldn't handle being responsible for that!" DJ said.

Gwen, Duncan, and I smirked at each other as we had the same thought.

"How many times do I have to say no?" DJ asked. The other team won the first part of the challenge. We still had to make the second part of the movie.

"You'll be making a feature about a thug who tries to go straight but can't resist the lure of the street." Chris said.

"Yeah, it's been done." Gwen said.

"At least we got one," I said and pointed out Duncan.

"Hey, what about lunch? We've been working for eight hours and you are legally obligated by union rules to give us a meal break." Heather said.

"Oh yeah? Who here is in the union?" Chris asked as he raised his own hand. "Yeah, I thought so."

"And now it's time to choose an actor to perform a scene," Chris said. "Chef, give the teams their scenes."

"Big lucky parmesano," Gwen said.

"A tough guy," Heather said. I raised Duncan's arm as he carved a skull into the wood.

"What?" He asked.

"You have got to play the gangster!" Gwen said.

"Don't typecast me! I don't even know if I can act." Duncan said.

"You can do it, I have a feeling you can." I said.

"You want Harold to do it?" Heather asked. "He's as tough as butter." I laughed at her comment.

"C'mon this is a role you were born to play." Gwen said.

"Yeah, all you have to do is be yourself." I added. He took the script finally.

"Alright, set up the shot!" Chris said. "Whoever can get Chef, Mr. Ex Army corporal to show any emotion, wins the challenge."

I got the lighting ready but the light moved and I tried to hold it still but I went falling to the ground as I yelled. I landed hard right on Duncan.

"Ha ha, oops." I mumbled.

"It's cool," he said. I got off of him and held out a hand which he took. He got up and walked over to the set and we watched him start. Everyone started crying in the end but Gwen and me. Even Chef cried.

"Duncan clearly wins for best performance!" Chris said. "The Screaming Gapher's win!"

"Yes!" Duncan and I high-fived. We went back and ate some lunch because we didn't eat anything and Duncan was throwing a party which I didn't attend. I just sat in my room writing my story and was texting Alejandro.
