Y/N’s POV
“I’ll take that, now that you’re finished,” Laurence said as I took the last sip of my coffee and reached to set the cup on the kitchen table.
I smiled and handed the cup over to him. He then took Garroth’s, emptying it into the sink. “HEY! I wasn’t done with that!” Garroth protested.
“Too bad! We have to help the lovely Y/N!” Laurence responded, a blush dusting my cheeks. Garroth mumbled curses under his breath as we left their house.
The two boys led me across the street to a red house with a grey, cobbled roof. A few toys were scattered around the freshly mown front lawn. We walked up to the door and Garroth knocked. After a few seconds, the door opened, revealing a petite woman with raven-colored hair pulled back into a messy bun. She had caramel-brown eyes and lightly tanned skin.
“Hey, Garroth! What brings you here?” she beamed.
Just then, a small girl came running to the door, grabbing her mother’s leg. Her hair matched her mother’s, but her eyes were black and her skin had an olive tone. “GarGar! Is Warance with you?” she cheered.
“Hi, Alina! Yes, Laurence is with me!” Garroth responded in a baby voice, shifting slightly to bring Laurence into view.
“Dada! GarGar and Warance are here!” Alina shouted, running further into the house to find her father.
“Anyway, what brings you two here?” the raven-haired woman continued after her daughter disappeared.
“We need Aaron’s help,” Laurence answered. She raised an eyebrow, urging them to continue.
“Our new friend, Y/N,” Garroth and Laurence parted, revealing me. I gave the woman a nervous wave. “She needs some help. She just moved in next door and needs help moving her furniture!” Garroth beamed.
The woman gave me a warm smile. “Of course we’ll help! Just let me go get him.” She went back inside and returned moments later with Alina and a tall man with black hair and olive skin—Aaron, I assumed.
“So, what’s up? You need my help with something?” Aaron asked.
“Yes, Y/N needs help moving furniture into her new house!” Garroth explained, for what felt like the third time that day.
“Of course I will! Is anyone else helping?” Aaron smiled.
“Nope, just us!” Laurence answered.
The six of us headed over to my house. Once there, I explained where I wanted everything. Then we started moving things. Alina even helped, carrying pictures and other small decorations. Around three o’clock, we decided to take a break. Laurence ran home and returned with leftover cupcakes from earlier that afternoon.

“Thank you all so much for helping me,” I said, settling into my fully furnished family room.
“It was our pleasure! And Alina loves pizza—thanks for serving us dinner!” Aaron’s wife replied. I giggled, and she smiled back, but her smile faded quickly. “Oh my Irene! Where are my manners? I never even told you my name! I’m Aphmau! Welcome to Mystreet!”
I laughed. “It’s fine, you were busy helping me!”
A little while later, they all left. I went upstairs to my fully furnished room, decorated in my favorite color. I quickly changed into a pair of pajamas in my second favorite color and hopped into my queen-sized bed. I burrowed under the covers and fell asleep with a smile. I’d made new friends. My life was finally turning around.
