The tour made me feel like i was going through the royal castle. It was a huge stone school with five buildings: two pools, a football field, tennis court, and track. It was so big it took us an hour and a half to learn everything and get around.
Our tour guide was a student who came in on the weekend to help us out. Her name was Kacy, I think. She had long orange hair in a braid and small freckles dotted her face. Her green eyes were bright and wide. She spoke with a lisp and batted her long eyelashes at me.
"So this concludes our tour." She spoke. We stood at the doors of the main building. "I hope to see you around Ben." She put on a wide smile.
I nodded slowly, freaked out. She opened the door and James and I walked out. He hadn't been really speaking to me because of what I said. His tone was sadder with me, and his sentences were smaller.
We got to his car. "I think she likes you." He said.
"Cause you know so much about girls?" I said getting into the car.
He got in also. "Trust me, i was quite the playboy back in my high school days." He winked.
"They had that term in 1821?" I asked.
He laughed. "You're a funny boy." he said. "You remind me of myself."
"Is that supposed to be an insult?"
He gave me a wide smile and then started the car.
The next day was my first day of school. I didn't know if i were excited or angry, or maybe scared. I didn't want to deal with the snobs. I wasn't a rich kid. Well, my mom's sugar daddy was. I was just a kid with no money.
I decided not to wear any of the expensive clothes James got me and wore my old ones. I put on a big black jumper, and then blue jeans. I threw on some worn out black boots and my old chewed up backpack.
I met my mom downstairs. "Ready to go?" She said.
"As ready as a deer running into a stampede of lions." She smiled.
My mom pulled up to the school and I got out. I placed my hand on the cool glass of the car. "If I don't make it, I want you to know that I'll always love you."
She rolled her eyes at me and drove away. I smiled and turned around examining the arena before me. I felt like I was in the hunger games, except everyone else had an advantage. Mad money. I walked up the two set of stairs through the differed crowds of people.
I went into the A building and walked down the familiar corridor with velvet colored floors lined with golden lockers. Everyone stood with high chins and expensive clothing. Every guy and girl in here looked so rich it made me cripple.
"Oh my god Sally, you got a nose job!" A group of girls said and jumped up and down.
I looked at them and raised my eyebrow. I looked over to a group of guys. "And I told Terry, at least my trust fund isn't in the hundred of thousands." They all broke out into a fit of laughter.
What was so funny about that? I'd love to have whatever life Terry had.
I heard a loud banging from behind me. Everyone stopped and turned around. I as well spun around.
There was a boy being pushed up against a locker by another boy. The boy being hurt was small and scrawny, probably a freshman. He couldn't do anything, but he squirmed. The guy hurting the kid was tall and muscular. His hands wrapped around the boys collar as he loomed over him.
Where I used to live no one really got bullied, but when it happened and I was there. I'd always stand up for the kid, even if the bully was six foot like this one right here.
"I swear little Corey, I will break your arm if you don't hand me that fifty."
"I-I need the lunch money!" The boy cried.
"And I need the snack money."
I walked closer and closer to the scene. "Please!" He said.
The bully smirked and twisted the small boy over, grabbing his arm and pulling it into a painful direction. The boy screamed. I reached my limit. I walked over to the bully and pushed him away.
"Stop being a fucking jackass." I said to him as he stumbled.
The guy looked confused, and surprised. The boy slumped against the lockers. The bully eyed me up and down. "Who the fuck are you." He said.
Everyone was staring at me like I was insane. They spoke quietly to each other. "Ben, Ben Kingo." I said to him.
"I wasn't actually asking." He said. He walked closer and closer to me. "Do you want to get your ass beat boy?" He spat. His face was inches from mine. His demeaning tone made me angrier.
"Try me bitch." I said.
He raised his fist. I was waiting for him to throw a punch. I wanted him to try and fight me, but he didn't. He just stood there, lowered his arm, and then a smile bloomed on his face. He placed his hands in the pockets of his jacket and nodded to me. "You got some fucking balls." He said. "What was your name again?"
"Ben Kingo." I told him.
"Kingo..." he said. "I like that." I raised my eyebrow. "Names Rori, Rori Valentine. I'll be seeing you around." He slapped me hard on the shoulder. I winced and he chuckled. He stared down at Corey and slit his finger over his neck. It was a gesture. He then proceeded to walk down the hallway.
I looked down at the small boy. "You okay?" I asked.
He nodded. Tears were pouring down his face. He got his books together and then left.
My first class was French, and I had to go to a whole other building to get to it. My teacher was Mr. Peter, and he was an old stuck up man who thought he could control whatever we did. When i said whatever. I meant whatever.
"Sit forward!" He said to me. "No elbows on the table, and chine up Benedict."
I just listened to half of what he said and he went on with the class.
Second period was worse. I had AP Stats. I wanted to take the tie Mrs. Nicker had around her collar and tie it to the ceiling, and then wrap it around my neck and strangle myself. I wasn't exaggerating. You'd do it too if you were there.
Third wasn't so bad because it was AP Euro and I loved learning about history. My teacher was also not as boring. She tried to make it fun for everyone. I felt an extra set of eyes watching me. I didn't know how I did, but I did. I turned around to see it was that Rori boy watching me. He smiled and waved.
I turned around, freaked out. I didn't even realize he was in this class. I sighed and ignored it.
Fourth was AP Bio. Thank god I had no one i knew in that class, but I didn't know much people anyway.
Lunch came after the first four classes and we had the option to go off campus. I just stayed in the cafeteria after I got my lunch. It was Chinese food, and boy did I love that. I sat down and took bites of my orange chicken.
I felt someone slap me on my back and I almost choked on what I was eating. I coughed and watched as Rori sat down across from me. He had a tooth pick in his mouth. He played with it. "Hey there Benedict." He said.
"What do you want?" I said taking a chug of water.
"What crawled up your ass and died?" He said. "I just want to help you out cause you're new and all."
I looked up into his eyes. He was a good looking guy. He had dark hair and eyes. His jaw had a small aftershave look. His figure was tall and lean. He wore mostly black. His black leather jacket looked worn. He stared down at me with his distinctive eyes.
"I can manage on my own thank you." I said.
He nodded to the space behind me and two people sat down. There was a girl and one boy. The boy looked like he was irritated with everything. He had light brown hair and blue eyes. He didn't look at me once. The girl had chocolate skin and dark hair. Her rosy lips curved into a smile as she sat beside me.
The boy nodded at me and spoke to Rori. "Who's the stowaway Rorusen?" He asked.
Rori smacked him in the back of the head. "Be nice Manning." He said. "How was your day Aury?" He said to the girl next to me.
Aury smiled. "Great Rori." She said like she was happy he even asked. "I think that boy I like is going to ask me to the winter formal!"
Rori smiled. "That's great!" He said.
"Translation, he doesn't give a fuck." Manning said.
Damn.
"Go fuck yourself Captain." She said to him.
I thought his name was Manning? Where the hell did Captain come from?
Rori looked back over to me. "I forgot." He wrapped his arm around Manning. "This is Captain Manning, and that's his sister Aury Manning."
"That's nice and all," I said. "But i really don't care."
Manning raised his eyebrow. "Is this that kid?"
Rori nodded. "It's that kid."
"I can kick his ass right now."
Rori patted Manning's head. "Down boy." He looked over to me. "We're going to the movies after school, wanna join?"
"Can't. I have an overprotective dad." I lied.
"Great." Rori said. "I'll pick you up at ten." He stood up.
"I said no."
"We're sneaking you out." He said. "Be ready by ten." His friends got up with him. "See you later Benny."
Benny?
That's what Jose's family called me. My mom on occasion slipped it in, so when Rori said it i should have just drew a line, but i didn't. I watched as he walked away. I somehow didn't mind him saying it. I huffed and finished my food.
