Chapter One

Izuku's POV

I jolt awake to the sound of a deafening alarm. I yawn and try to comprehend why an alarm is going off. But the noise was making it extremely hard to think. My door bursts open and Kacchan appears in my doorway.

"Get up nerd!" He screams over the noise.

"Kacchan what is go in going on?" I ask in between another yawn.

"The emergency alarm is going off. So get up or I am leaving you!" Kacchan yells louder making me flinch.

My eyes shoot open when I realize what he is saying. We are going to be late. Aizawa is going to kill us then kill us again you make sure we are dead.

I hop out of bed and rush to the door. Kacchan had already started running to the main hall. I follow him both of us sprinting as fast as we can. My bare feet strike the metal floor harshly.

Kacchan made it into the main hall right as the alarm clicked off. I slipped in right after him and looked around. We weren't technically late but most of our other classmates were there. Around three or so of our teammates weren't here yet and almost none of the first years were. Most likely because they didn't know what the alarm meant. When I was a first-year, the first alarm drill went terrible no one was here until three minutes after the alarm.

Aizawa walked over to us sleepily. "Line up. I need to do a headcount so I can go back asleep," He shouts at all of us.

Everyone quickly forms a line. My friend Uraraka stand in front of me. She admittedly turned round to talk to me.

"So why were you late?" She asks me. "I mean you are usually one of the first ones here with Iida and if you aren't you're getting others."

"I couldn't sleep last night," I lie. It wasn't a whole lie, I just wasn't going to tell her that the reason I couldn't sleep was because of my nightmares.

I look back in the line as Aizawa starts to count. I notice that Kacchan is standing alone which was unusual because he is usually surrounded by his friends.

I frown when I think about Kacchan's friends. He has lost the most out of all of us. We have all lost people but I have known Kacchan for a very long time. He didn't have good friends until he got here. And since then he has been losing them. By the time the second year started he had already lost so many and he blamed himself for every single one.

The doors slam open again. Kirishima and Kaminari fall into the room. Their breath was staggered and concerning fast. You would think they would be used to running by now since they usually go on supply runs.

Aizawa storms over to both of them. The atmosphere suddenly gets darker and the hair on my arms stands up. "The alarm stopped going off a minute and eight seconds ago," He glared at the boys. "Weapons now!"

Kaminari hands his taser and electric staff to Azaiwa. Kirishima grabs his machete and gives it to Azaiwa.

"Get up and get in line," Aizawa says taking the weapons and walking back over to us.

Kirishima and Kaminari run over to Kacchan. An idea I guaranteed that they regretted once the explosive boy started to yell at them. Kacchan was way scarier than Aizawa when it came to his friends.

"Okay, today we were going to have Kirishima, Kaminari, and Bakugou on Extermination but since two of them have proven that they can't even do a simple drill that is going to change. Kirishima you will be helping Sato in the kitchen and Kaminari you will be helping Hatsume. Bakugou you can still go on extermination, you will be going with Uraraka and Midoriya."

Kaminari and Bakugou immediately start to object but shut up once Aizawa glares threatening at them. The three boys start to whisper among themself. Aizawa continued to list off the names and I turn to Uraraka.

"Can you believe that on the first day back we get to go on Extermination," She exclaims over-enthusiastically.

I used to be a big fan of Extermination. It is what everyone wants to do. The only other job that most people want is called Position. Position is the best because it shows you are the best at doing that thing. In my class, we have three people with Positions. Tokoyami had a sniper Position, Hakagura was a spy Position, and Sato was a cooking Position. Extermination was for the stronger ones that had to go out and kill Rotters and sometimes Infecteds. The reason I don't like it anymore is that people always get killed on exterminations. And I didn't understand why we had to kill Infecteds

"No, I can't," I say back faking a smile. I look over and see that Bakugou is arguing with Kaminari. "What do you think they are talking about?" I wonder out loud.

"I don't know. Probably about how much it sucks that Kaminari has to be Mei's test subject and Kirishima gets to eat food all day," I laugh at the not-so-slight favoritism.

"Why are all of you still standing there get to your job!" Aizawa yells at us and we all scatter.

"I'll meet you and Kacchan at the door in 10 minutes. I have to get dressed," I tell her looking down at my All Might PJ's.

Uraraka nods and runs off to her room probably to change too. I look to Kacchan who storms away from Kaminari. I notice that he's walking towards me and I decide to wait for him since our rooms are right next to each other.

"What were you and Kaminari talking about?" I ask walking next to him.

"Nothing Dunce Face was just being an idiot." Kacchan pauses and looks at me. He shakes his head and continues to walk. "You look tired. After the Extermination you should get some sleep," He grumbles so low I almost don't hear him.

"Don't worry I'm fine Kacchan-"

"I wasn't worried!" He shouts making me flinch slightly. "I just don't want you messing up missions."

"Okay," I agree not wanting to start a fight and stop at my door. Kacchan just continues to walk not saying anything else.

I slowly walk to the exit doors not caring about being late. The less time I had to spend outside on Extermination the better. Uraraka and Kacchan are already there, casually chatting about the upcoming sports festival. For two years now they have fought during the festival. Uraraka had lost both times but it's been close both years.

"I am going to beat you this year," Uraraka says confidently.

"Good luck Pink Cheeks."

I stand next to Uraraka. "You two ready to go?" I ask.

"Yeah, we were waiting on you Deku," Both of them say making me suppress a laugh. It was scary sometimes how similar they could be.

"Okay then let's go," I say with fake pep.

Kacchan gives me a questioning look and I turn away quickly knowing that he would see right through my smile. He looks away and pulls the lever that opens the door.

The bright morning sun shines into the compound. Making all the people in the hallway pause to watch. The fresh outside air fills my lungs making me truly smile. Though my smile quickly faded.

Time for the Extermination.
