The chipped Formica of the cafeteria table felt cold under my elbows. It was first period, and the usual pre-lunch chaos was already swirling around me – backpacks slung over chair backs, whispered gossip, the clatter of trays. But today felt… different. It wasn’t the lunch ladies, or the chipped Formica, or the usual suspects. It was *them*.
Everyone knew who they were, of course. Bang Chan, the golden boy. He moved through the halls like he owned the place, a smile permanently plastered on his face, and everyone seemed to melt a little bit warmer when he got close. He was the first thing I saw, leaning against the lockers near the entrance, laughing with Minho. Minho, who somehow managed to look both annoyed and amused at the same time. He had that perpetual ‘I’m too cool for this’ vibe, but honestly? I think he secretly liked the drama.
Then there was Changbin. He always looked like he was plotting something, a little too much energy bouncing off him. The way he held his tray, the way he grinned… it was just *off*. Dark™ as he liked to say. He was with Hyunjin, who… well, Hyunjin was an event. Apparently, he'd managed to turn straight men gay and lesbians straight. He was overdramatic about everything. Always. I swear, he probably cried when he stubbed his toe.
Over by the vending machines, Jisung was already attempting to flirt with Mrs. Park, the librarian. I heard he’d been desperately searching for a noona for months, and she looked absolutely mortified. He was always horny, and his desperation was visible from a mile away. I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t help but smirk.
Felix, or Yongbok, as he preferred, was across the room, talking to Chan. The rumor was that he'd called Chan “oppa” the first time they met a year ago. The way they looked at each other… It was soft, almost shy. The two of them were always shipped together, and it was easy to see why.
Seungmin was always quiet. He looked like a fluffy little bean, but I’d heard stories. Savage, they said. A voice like an angel, but a mouth that could cut glass. He was with Jeongin, who claimed to be a “maknae” but acted like he owned the school. He was secretly a 3racha fanboy, and I was too.
I took another bite of my sandwich, watching them all. It was a mess, honestly. A beautiful, chaotic mess. And I had a feeling this year was going to be… interesting. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I got close enough to any of them.
I wonder what they thought of me.
