[BOOK 1] Chapter 1: Welcome to Violet Dragon

The sky above Achazia was a deep shade of twilight blue when Lychein first laid eyes on Achazian Academy.

From the moment she stepped off the enchanted carriage that had flown her from the village, she felt the air shift. It was colder here-not in temperature, but in presence. As if the mountains themselves were watching, holding their breath.

The school stood proud on a plateau of obsidian stone, with crystal towers that reached toward the sky like fingers casting ancient spells. The walls shimmered faintly with wards, runes etched in forgotten tongues, and doors that seemed to open only when they felt like it.

Other students bustled around the open courtyard, wearing cloaks marked with red, brown, or blue dragon sigils. Most of them chattered excitedly, dragging luggage behind them or staring up at the floating lanterns that danced in the air like fireflies.

Lychein, meanwhile, stood alone-her violet-swirled envelope clutched in her trembling hand.

A teacher with a scroll called out names. One by one, the new students stepped onto a platform carved from moonstone, where their elemental affinity would be revealed by the magical crystal known as the Soul Flame.

“Lychein” the woman finally called.

Murmurs echoed across the courtyard. The name was unfamiliar. Some turned to look, others barely noticed.

Lychein stepped forward slowly. Her heartbeat was so loud it drowned the noise of the crowd. She approached the platform and stared into the Soul Flame-a sphere of living light that flickered blue, red, or brown depending on the soul that touched it.

She reached out.

At first, nothing happened. A pause. A breathless stillness.

Then-

The flame exploded into a swirl of radiant violet.

Gasps erupted. The crowd fell into stunned silence. Even the staff members leaned forward in disbelief.

“V-Violet Dragon?” someone whispered.

“Isn’t that dorm... closed?”

“It’s cursed...”

The headmistress of Violet Dragon dorm stepped forward, robes brushing the ground. Her silver eyes landed on Lychein, studying her not with suspicion-but with interest.

“I am Professor Elzora, head of the Violet Dragon dorm...” she said calmly, as if she had been waiting for this moment. “Come with me, Lychein. You are where you belong.”

The walk to the Violet Dragon dorm was long and winding. While the other dorms were clustered near the central castle, the path to Violet was overgrown and untended, winding through archways and gardens that had not been touched in years.

“Why is it so far away?” Lychein asked softly.

Professor Elzora glanced at her. “Because true power needs distance. So it doesn't swallow everything too soon.”

They reached a narrow staircase carved into the mountain. At the top stood a tower wreathed in violet light, covered in ivy and moonlit mist. A dragon statue guarded the entrance-its eyes glowing faintly as Lychein approached. She felt its gaze pierce her soul.

The doors creaked open on their own.

Inside, the dorm was unlike anything she had imagined. The ceilings arched like cathedral domes. Floating lights lined the hallways. The walls shimmered with shifting constellations. It was silent, but not empty.

A girl stood near the hearth, her long silver-black hair cascading over her shoulders like starlight on ink. She was reading a book that seemed to be writing itself, the words glowing faintly on the page.

She looked up with calm, sharp eyes.

“Another one?” she said dryly. “It’s been... a while.”

Professor Elzora introduced her. “This is Zharmyst, your senior dormmate. One of the few to carry the violet mark before you.”

Zharmyst gave a small nod, eyes still studying Lychein with quiet intensity. “Welcome to the outcast tower.”

Lychein blinked. “I-I didn’t ask for this.”

“No one does...” Zharmyst replied. “The Violet chooses.”

Later that night, Lychein stood at the window of her new room. The stars outside blinked like secrets waiting to be heard. Her room was quiet, her suitcase still untouched at the foot of the bed. The violet crest pulsed softly on the wall above her.

In her palm, she held the letter again.

“ You have been chosen.

You are of the Violet Dragon.

You are more than what you seem. ”

Lychein closed her eyes.

She wasn’t sure what lay ahead. But something inside her-something warm, ancient, and waiting-told her that she was no longer just a village girl with strange dreams.

She was a Violet Dragon.

And her story had only just begun.
