I looked out the window. The outside was cool and calm. Cho and her fiancées had offered to take care of the children, and we’d agreed.
“Puppy!” Midoriya smiled, hugging me from behind. I smiled back as he rested his forehead on my shoulder. It was a comfortable weight, a familiar warmth.
“Cho and the boys picked up the kids,” Todoroki yawned, stretching out on the bed. “I think I could sleep through a whole day.” He sounded genuinely content.
“Can’t believe I’m saying this,” Bakugou sighed, surprisingly subdued. “Not in the mood to…you know. Not in the mood to f*ck.” He practically collapsed into sleep, muttering something about “extra soft blankets.”
They all drifted off quickly. I smiled, watching them. “Wonder what the kids are up to.”

“Auntie Cho! One cupcake!” Himi beamed, practically vibrating with excitement. Cho carefully placed a cupcake into a bag, ready for Himi to hand it to a customer.
“Have a nice day, Mr. Nozaki!” Himi smiled, waving goodbye with a flourish. Cho wrapped her arm around Himi, squeezing her close.
“Well, my little helper, you’re doing a very well job!” She smiled. Himi giggled, her eyes sparkling.
“Look! He gave us two coins too!” She pointed at the small coins in her hand. Cho smiled. “Wonder what Haru and Kai are getting up to?”
_Meanwhile, next to the cafe_
“This is hard!” Kai complained, grumbling under his breath. Hiro chuckled, a little exasperated.
“I just told you to hold the sword—the stick, whatever.”
“It’s heavy!”
Meanwhile, Liam and Haru sat in the corner, absorbed in their books.
“What does ‘despondent’ mean, Uncle Liam?” Haru asked, pointing at a word in his book.
“It means…in low spirits from loss of hope or courage.” Liam smiled.
“Oh! Like what Kai is right now! He’s despondent because he can’t hold the stick!” Haru shouted, pointing at his brother.
“What are you talking about! I’m not giving up!” Kai yelled, straining to hold the wooden sword. “I am gonna do this!”
After a few seconds, he tumbled forward, overwhelmed by the weight.
“Owwwwwwwwwww!”
Haru burst into laughter, pointing at the boys. As they struggled to help Kai, the girls watched the whole thing from across the street.
_Meanwhile_
“Yeah, I think they’re fine,” I smiled, letting my own exhaustion pull me toward sleep. I felt a soft weight against my shoulder. I closed my eyes.
