The figure led them to a secure room deep within the warehouse. The room was equipped with comfortable beds and a bathroom.
"You two must be exhausted," the figure said. "Get some rest. We'll talk more in the morning."
Skylar and Liam exchanged a skeptical glance, but they were indeed tired. They settled into the beds, trying to process the events of the day.
As they drifted off to sleep, Skylar couldn't shake the feeling that they were in grave danger. Who was this mysterious figure, and what did he want from them?
The next morning, the figure returned with a tray of food and drinks.
"Good morning," he said, setting the tray down. "I see you two are feeling better."
Liam sat up, rubbing his eyes.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
The figure smiled.
"My name is Ethan," he said. "And I'm your older brother, Liam."
Liam's eyes widened in shock.
"What?!" he exclaimed.
Ethan nodded.
Liam's eyes widened in shock as he stared at Ethan.
"You're my brother?" he repeated.
Ethan nodded again, a mix of emotions on his face.
"I've been searching for you for years, Liam," he said. "And when I finally tracked you down you and learnt about you, you were already being taken to the Khaos lab and I followed after that I waited for the right time to rescue you both."
Skylar's eyes narrowed and asked " Then how do you know my name?"
Ethan replied "Like I said I learnt almost everything about liam including his friends."
"Well that explains how. By the way.....how did we get separated?" Liam asked, his voice shaking.
Ethan took a deep breath before speaking.
"I was 7 years old, and you were 3," he said. "We were on the run from some henchmen. I didn't know who they were at the time, but I later found out it was Khaos."
Liam's eyes widened.
"What happened?" Skylar asked.
Ethan's expression turned grim.
"We got separated in the chaos," he said. "I got lost, and you and Mom...I don't know what happened to you and Dad also went a separate path too. I was adopted by a loving couple, who by chance, were spies."
Liam's eyes widened further.
"Spies?" he repeated.
Ethan nodded.
"They trained me, and I've become a bit of an expert, especially in hacking. And as you see this is one of the secret base hide-out." he said. "But I never forgot about my real family. I've been searching you for years."
Skylar's eyes softened.
"I'm glad you found us," she said.
Ethan smiled, his eyes shining with tears.
"Me too," he said. "Me too."
Liam's expression turned thoughtful.
"What do we do now?" he asked.
Ethan's expression turned serious.
"We need to lay low for a while," he said. "Khaos will stop at nothing to capture you as once they have targeted the victim. But I have a plan. We can-"
Ethan paused, collecting his thoughts.
"I also found something that might help us," he said. "When I got separated from you, I found that our parents kept a small notebook in my pocket before we get separated and it contains some codes. I've been trying to decipher them for years. Once actually he even captured me few years ago and he took this and after few hours my adopted parents rescued me along with the book but I am guessing that they must have deciphered it already."
Skylar's eyes narrowed.
"What kind of codes?" she asked.
Ethan pulled out a small notebook.
"They're cryptic messages," he said. "But I think they might be connected to Khaos. If we can crack the code, we might be able to uncover their plans. But my adoptive parents couldn't get it either and didn't take it seriously to decipher them so I am the only one who is trying but it isn't leading me anywhere."
Liam's eyes lit up.
"Let me see," he said.
Ethan handed Liam the notebook.
Liam's eyes scanned the notebook, his mind racing with possibilities.
"I think I see a pattern," he said, his voice filled with excitement.
Ethan leaned in, his eyes locked on the notebook.
"What is it?" he asked.
Liam's fingers flew across the page, deciphering the codes.
"It's a message," he said. "It says... 'Echo-12 compromised. Extraction failed. Khaos protocol initiated.' "
Ethan's expression turned grim.
"What does it mean?" Skylar asked.
Ethan hesitated before speaking.
"I'm not entirely sure," he said. "But I think it's connected to our family's past."
Liam's eyes narrowed.
"Tell us more," he said.
Ethan took a deep breath before speaking.
"My adoptive parents were spies," he said. "They worked for a top-secret organization, taking on high-risk missions. They were the ones who trained me, who taught me everything I know."
Skylar's eyes widened.
"That's amazing," she said.
Ethan smiled, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes.
"They were amazing people," he said. "But they were also very secretive. They never told me much about themselves or about their mission but one thing is sure that they treated me like their own child."
Liam's eyes locked on Ethan's.
"But you think this code is connected to our family's past?" he asked.
Ethan nodded.
"I do," he said. "And I think it's the key to unlocking a part of truth."
Skylar's eyes narrowed.
"But what does it mean?" she asked. "What is Echo-12, and what's Khaos protocol?"
Ethan's expression turned serious.
"I'm not entirely sure," he said. "But I think we're about to find out."
They three of them sets out on this journey to find out more answers to this unresolved mystery.
