FLASH BACK

It was my first day at school. I looked up at the imposing building, adjusted the strap of my bag, and stepped inside. I was walking towards my classroom when a group of boys rushed towards me, moving too fast. Startled, I instinctively braced myself, preparing for impact. They swept past, and I sighed, finally entering the classroom. I sat at a corner table, and reached for my headphones when I overheard girls gossiping about two boys.

“Ohh… Cassandra was his victim last night, apparently. She must be so lucky…” I ignored them, immersing myself in my music.

Lost in the melody, I didn’t notice someone yanking my headphones from my ears. I turned, furious.

“Ohh… how dare you sit next to me? You little…” he sneered, flipping his hair theatrically.

“I found the seat empty, so I took it… Is it yours? You can have it, I don’t mind,” I replied, crossing my arms defensively.

“Ohhh… smart,” another boy said, stepping closer.

“She’s such a mess. Give her to me tonight, Jungkookie,” he directed at another boy, pointing at me.

Jungkook smirked, his gaze locking on mine. I was shocked. The girls were practically swooning as he walked through the crowd of students. The teacher entered the classroom and fixed me with a pointed look. I was replaying the exchange, thinking, “What was he saying? Such a jerk!”

“Hey you… new student, come over here,” he pointed at me, beckoning me to the front of the room.

The entire classroom turned to stare. I walked to the teacher’s table, and he instructed me to introduce myself.

“Annyeong haseyo! I am Kimsoo. You can call me Kim. It’s nice to meet you all… I hope…” I was mid-sentence when the same boy interrupted.

“What’s your age?” He smirked, and the class erupted in laughter. He flipped his hair again.

“SILENCE!” The teacher thundered.

“You may go, Kim,” the teacher said, returning to his paperwork.

“Thank you, sir.” I went back to my table, feeling exposed.

After class, I was heading towards the changing room when the same group of boys were blocking the doorway.

“Ohh… you… what was your name… ahh, Kim? Want to change clothes?” He smirked, stepping closer.

“No… I-I mean yes!” I stammered, taking a step back.

“Let her go…” I heard from behind. It was Jungkook.

“What the hell, man!” The boy yelled.

“I said… let her go,” Jungkook held my hand and pushed the boys aside.

“You may go,” he said, gently guiding me inside.

I found Jungkook surprisingly kind.

Next Day~~

I was sitting on a bench in the school playground when someone sat down beside me.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Ohh… Jungkook,” I said, surprised.

“Please, don’t do that again. I’m already in a bad mood,” I told him, looking down.

“I want to tell you something…” he said.

“What? What is it?” I replied, looking up.

“I don’t want to hurt anyone, but he makes me do it… because he’s my best friend…” He looked at me intently.

“Yahh… it’s not right. You’re hurting people just to please your friend? You should tell him to stop,” I suggested.

“I can’t tell him…” he replied.

“If you can’t, I can help you!” I offered.

“Okay… I’d be grateful… but you need to come with me tonight, to my dorm,” he said with a hopeful smile.

“Okay… I will.” We walked to the dorm together.

Jimin and a group of girls were sitting in the cafeteria.

“There he is,” Jungkook pointed him out.

We approached him, and Jungkook told him to step aside.

“Jiminah… she wants to talk to you,” he said, gesturing towards me.

“Yeah?” He looked at me. No doubt he was handsome, and his puppy-dog eyes made me cringe. But I needed to stop his bad behavior.

“I-I want to say… stop hurting people. It’s not… good,” I stammered.

“Aishh… I was just messing with girls. I won’t hurt you anyway… because you’re… different.” He smiled and patted me on the shoulder. I was shocked and thought he was a bit nicer.

“So… friends?” I asked, extending my hand.

“Okay… sure.” He took my hand. “We’re not as bad as you think.” Jungkook smiled. I smiled back.

Jimin was falling for her because she wanted him to be a good person. Not like the other girls at school, who just wanted a night with him.

The days went by, and they became good friends. Jimin was falling for her. Meanwhile, Jungkook was preparing to propose when he saw us…

I was sitting with Jimin under a tree, playing a game. Suddenly, Jimin took my hand and pulled me towards him. I was almost lying on top of him.

“I love you, Kim,” he whispered, looking straight into my eyes.

I was shocked. I stood up, ready to run, when he gently took my hand and crashed his lips against mine. My eyes widened, and I was still reeling.

Meanwhile~~

Jungkook was buying flowers to propose. He was happy, smiling secretly at the memories they shared. He was looking for her when he saw Jimin kissing me under the tree. His heart shattered. He couldn’t bear the sight. The flowers slipped from his hand. He fled.
