“ (Y/N)-chaaan~!”
The woman whose name was (Y/N) flinched at the familiar, though endearing, call.
*Is he going to flirt again?* she wondered, a familiar anxiety bubbling up.
*What should I even do?*
Panic threatened to overwhelm her as Zenitsu skipped toward her, a bright smile plastered on his face.
*Ever since I started checking on him, asking if he was alright, he's been flirting the very next day!*
Zenitsu stopped before her, his smile dazzling.
*Are men really this forward these days?*
“Good morning, my future wife!”
(Y/N) offered a deadpan expression, eliciting a wail from Zenitsu.
“C-Come on!”
He shouted, shaking with tears. “Don’t be so cold!”
(Y/N) sighed and offered him a small smile. Despite his irritating and persistent flirtations, she’d fallen for him the moment he’d protected her from a demon, even while trembling with fear.
*He’s cute…*
She watched Zenitsu’s crying form, murmuring her name repeatedly.
*If only he weren’t so…annoying.*
She thought dryly, then turned to walk away.
“(Y/N)-chaaannnn!”
Zenitsu’s cry followed her like a puppy trailing its owner.
“What is it, Zenitsu-kun?”
She asked blankly, staring at his still-welling eyes.
“Do you hate me…because I’m annoying?”
Her eyes widened, softening at his vulnerability.
“Of course, I do.”
She offered a closed-eyed smile, watching him shriek and cry even more.
“D-Don’t say it while smiling like that!”
His outburst made her giggle as she reached out, cupping his cheek with her hand.
“I was just joking.”
She whispered softly, wiping a tear from his cheek with her thumb.
“I don’t hate you.”
His eyes widened, and he stared at her, licking the tear she’d wiped away.
“Bye~!”
With that, she left the dumbfounded Zenitsu, a giggle escaping her lips.
“I guess I’ll turn the tables upside down.”
Zenitsu’s face flushed red as she walked away.
“He really is cute.”
*(Y/N)-san, why…?*
He slumped to the floor, covering his burning face with his hands.
*You were so cute when you smiled and giggled like that.*
Smoke seemed to rise from his head as he grinned.
*I feel like dying.*
