This is not happening.
This is *not* happening!
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. This is not fucking happening!
Jung Hoseok droned on about their new project, and Jin had been grouped to work with both Taehyung and Jungkook. At least he was saved from complete insanity by having Jimin on his team as well.
Taehyung and Jungkook smirked. This was their chance. They would be working closely with Jin. He couldn’t escape them now.
The two men had struck a pact, finally realizing their tried-and-true methods had failed them miserably all these years. They played *kai, bai, bo* to decide who would get first dibs on wooing Jin. The terms were simple: the winner would have exclusive focus, while the other would completely back off.
Taehyung won the first round, and he was elated. He had exactly two days. Jungkook would have the next two. On the fifth day, they would ask Jin to make his decision, as the project was scheduled for five days total.
All bets were off. They could do anything to try and win Jin over. The other couldn’t object or interfere. Jin remained blissfully unaware of their machinations.
But Hoseok was very aware. He’d suggested the arrangement, seeing as the two idiots needed help to finally *secure* Jin.
“Hey Jin! Hold up, will you?” Taehyung called, as they exited the meeting room.
Jin groaned inwardly. “What do you want?” He asked through gritted teeth.
“I was hoping maybe we could go out for a drink. Just a simple, no-strings-attached drink after work, at a bar populated by other people so you should be safe. What do you say? I promise I won’t try anything.”
Seokjin considered this, and found no immediate catch – which was concerning. He tried to be polite and accepted.
“Just one drink, and that’s it! No funny business!” He warned.
Taehyung was jumping inwardly, but he kept his face calm. “One drink, maybe two. I promise I won’t do anything to make you uncomfortable.”
“And where will your partner be? I hope he won’t be lurking around.” Jin eyed Taehyung suspiciously.
“I promise he won’t be anywhere near us. It’s just a friendly drink. So I’ll meet you down at the 45th Street bar?”
“Yeah…sure. After work then.”
Taehyung smiled and returned to his workstation, leaving a confused Jin in his wake. What is he planning? I don’t trust him not to make a move on me!
For the rest of the day, neither of the two idiots bothered him. This only heightened his suspicions. By the time it was time to leave, Seokjin was convinced there was a conspiracy surrounding their new behavior, and he wasn’t going to stand for it.
He made his way to the bar and found Taehyung already there, waving from a barstool. Interesting…he hadn’t opted for a booth or a private table.
“I’ll have a beer, please,” he told the bartender.
“You made it! Hey, thanks for coming.” Taehyung said cheerfully.
“Yeah…I guess.” He reached for his wallet, but Taehyung stopped him.
“Put that away. It’s my treat! I mean, I did invite you.”
“Okay.” Jin took a sip. Soon they were having a pleasant conversation, free of the usual annoying banter. By the third drink, Jin was actually enjoying Taehyung’s company.
When he ordered a fourth, Taehyung raised his hand.
“No way! You’ve had enough. You better head home before you complain that I forced you to have more to drink!”
Jin laughed lightly. He *had* had a good time tonight. Taehyung was funny and sweet, qualities he hadn’t seen before. As he walked back to his apartment alone, Jin decided Taehyung wasn’t such a bad guy after all.
The next day at the office proved another surprise. Taehyung was once again sweet and funny, not smothering as usual. When he asked Jin out to dinner that night, he readily accepted.
Once again, he met him at the restaurant. It was a nice, fancy place. Seokjin found himself settling easily into conversation with Taehyung. The food was good, and the atmosphere conspired to make Jin feel relaxed and happy in Taehyung’s company.
By the end of the evening, when Taehyung insisted on dropping Jin off at his house, he expected a kiss – but it never came, and Jin was actually disappointed. So he invited Taehyung in for a nightcap.
Taehyung considered it, and eventually relented. Seokjin was happy. He made two cups of coffee and they settled on the couch, watching a *kdrama* about star-crossed lovers. When Taehyung leaned in to kiss Jin goodnight, he didn’t resist. The kiss was short and chaste, leaving Jin wanting more.
He fell asleep happily and content. The next day, Jungkook quietly helped him out at the copier, and Jin found himself gazing into his warm eyes. When Jungkook shyly asked Jin for a coffee date, he readily accepted.
Seokjin realized Jungkook had the cutest bunny smile he’d ever seen. It was sweet and endearing. As they walked the three blocks to the coffee shop, Jin leaned into Jungkook’s warmth, satisfied in his embrace.
They talked about everything and anything, and once again Jin found himself comfortable around Jungkook. Jungkook held his hand, promising to take Jin out for dinner the following evening. Seokjin decided he looked forward to it.
Jungkook was quiet, shy, and so cute. Seokjin just wanted to squeeze his cheeks. He took Jin out to a Korean barbecue, and it was amazing. Jin loved his food, and considering the great company he had with Jungkook, he enjoyed the evening thoroughly.
Once again, he felt he wanted Jungkook to kiss him, and happily leaned into the kiss when it was time to call it a night. The next day, Jin skipped into the office, and was called into an emergency meeting in the conference room, only to find his recruitment officer and the two idiots waiting for him.
