Vylad’s POV

I turn the knife over in my hand, tracing its edge with a calloused thumb. The steel is cold, familiar.

“It was a pleasure to accept my invitation. I was beginning to doubt you’d show,” the man said, his voice a low rumble.

He had dark brown hair, neatly trimmed, and eyes the color of dull slate. They held no warmth.

“A formality, to sign a contract and prevent any… *conflicts*,” another man interjected, drawing quotation marks around the word with a smirk. He had brunette hair and eyes the color of turquoise.

“Precisely. A formality, Mr. Alajendro,” I confirmed, echoing the other man’s tone.

“Just call me Gene,” he said, his tone sharp, bordering on dismissive.

I slammed the knife onto the polished mahogany table, the sound a sharp punctuation.

“Pick up the pen and sign it,” I said, sliding the contract across the table.

My gaze drifted to a corner of the room. A Siberian husky lay curled on a plush rug, its blue eyes watching with quiet intelligence.

“Your dog?” a girl asked, her voice cutting through the tension. She had hair the color of hot pink and eyes the shade of crimson, a striking contrast to the muted tones of the room.

“No. My daughter’s,” a man replied, signing the document with a swift, decisive stroke.

“Your daughter’s name is Y/n L/n, yet you’re Rick Richmond, aren’t you?” Gene picked up a worn journal from a table near the exit door, flipping through its pages.

“None of your concern,” Rick said, passing the signed contract to me.

I took it, and a sudden thud echoed from behind us. The husky bolted upright, barking furiously at a door guarded by two silent men.

“What are you hiding?” Catherine asked, her pink hair swaying as she leaned forward.

“Get them,” Rick commanded, his voice clipped.

Gene, Catherine, and I moved back to back as five men surrounded us, their hands resting on the holsters of their weapons.

“Five against three. A little unfair, wouldn’t you say?” Gene said, flexing his fist.

“You think I’d invite you here unarmed, unaware that you’d be here to kill me?” Rick asked, the men drawing their guns.

“We left our weapons outside.”

“Now I’m starting to regret pulling out my knife,” Gene said, raising his hands in surrender.

“Lock them up. Make sure Rowan gets the message,” Rick ordered.

A man grabbed my shoulder, gripping my arms. They confiscated my phone with minimal resistance.

“I always wonder when we’ll learn,” Gene said, his voice low.

“Shut up,” I snapped as they dragged us toward a heavy steel door.

They threw us into a room, the door slamming shut behind us. Catherine kicked the metal, her frustration echoing in the confined space.

“Bastard,” she spat.

I scanned the room. In the corner, a girl lay slumped against the wall. Her hair was the color of honey, and a blindfold covered her eyes. Her hands were tied behind her back. She was still, unnaturally still.

“Guys,” I called out, my voice tight with apprehension.

“What?” Gene turned, his eyes landing on the girl.

Catherine rushed to her side, pressing a hand against her neck.

“She’s still alive,” Catherine said, her voice grim.

“How did she end up here?” I asked.

“Probably raped,” Catherine said, holding up a ripped jacket she found on the floor.

I knelt beside the girl, carefully removing the blindfold. A cut marred the skin beside her left eye, raw and bleeding.

“Hey,” I shook her shoulder gently.

“She’s knocked out,” Gene confirmed.

Catherine untied her hands. As her fingers loosened, the girl’s eyes snapped open, revealing eyes the color of emeralds. She threw a punch, connecting with Catherine’s jaw. Her elbow slammed into my nose.

“Ah!” I grunted, clutching my nose as she grabbed her jacket and stood up.

Gene was about to retaliate when she threw the jacket at his face and kicked him. He stumbled backward, slamming into the door. I stood up as she bolted toward the exit.

I heard gunshots and ran out the door to see her stabbing Rick on the ground over and over in his head. The dog was biting a leg of a dead body.

“He’s dead,” I said as I walked over to her.

She continued stabbing, blood splattering everywhere. I grabbed her around her waist.

“No! Let go of me!” She struggled as I took away the knife.

“Easy!” I tried to avoid her hands from hitting my face.

“He deserves every single stab!” She shouted.

“That’s enough,” I wrapped my arms around her as she slowly calmed down.

“Okay, okay, I’m calm,” she took deep breaths.

Suddenly, she turned around, about to stab me when my hand landed on a fire poker. I swung it and hit her head as she dropped the knife and slowly fell to the ground.

I heard groaning and saw Gene getting up his eyes landed on Rick.

“Damn,” he said.

“She hits hard,” Catherine walked up the door holding her jaw.

I felt a liquid running down my nose and I wiped it to see blood. I looked down at the girl and knelt down as I turned her around.

“Who are you?”

~ Time Skip ~

“Her name is Y/n L/n, she’s 23, an orphan. Her mother died seven years ago, her brother Cole went missing three years ago, and now, she lives with her sister Gemma who goes to highschool. Y/n works for the Divines,” the man said, his blond hair gleaming under the fluorescent lights.

“Dad?” I asked.

“Married again and have another son and daughter.”

He traced a few grey strands in his emerald eyes as he read the paper.

“How did she end up in there?” Catherine asked, placing a bag of ice on her jaw.

“She has disabilities,” the man said.

“Just get on with it, Rowan, we’ve been standing here for 15 minutes,” Gene said.

“She has a sadistic personality disorder,” he said.

“That’s not good,” I said.

“Explains the sixteen stabs to the face,” Gene said.

“She’s Swedish,” he said.

“Swedish?” Catherine asked.

“That’s all,” Rowan said.

We then heard rapid footsteps and I turned around to see a girl with brunette hair and hazel eyes.

“Mariko?” Catherine asked.

“Where is she?” She asked.

“Inside,” I gestured toward the door.

Mariko walked in and I entered.

“Hey,” she stroked her head and Y/n sat up hugging her.

“I thought you were gone,” Mariko said.

“I’m fine,” Y/n said.

She pulls apart.

“I’m gonna call Mitsunari,” Mariko said as she stood up.

She exits the room taking out her phone.

“How come you guys didn’t tell us about her?” Cat asked.

“Because you don’t have to,” she replies in a bitchy tone.

“Bitchy much?” Gene asked.

Y/n puts up a middle finger.

We then hear a phone ringing, I turn around to Rowan.

“It’s Carol, I’ll have to head out,” he said.

“Yeah, go ahead and pick up the bitch,” Cat said, Rowan rolls his eyes away.

“Don’t call your sister that, come on,” Rowan said as he exits the room.

Cat scoffs as she follows him out.

“I’m gonna head back to headquarters,” Gene walks away.

The door shuts leaving me alone with her.

“How’s your nose?” Y/n asked.

I turn to her.

“Oh, it’s fine, at least it’s not turning blue,” I said, she chuckles.

“I’m sorry, I was desperate,” she said.

“I read your files,” I said, she sighed.

“That’s hard to have the other side of you,” I said.

“I watched,” she said, I nodded as I get what she meant.

“What did the doctor say?” I asked.

“I’m just gonna be here in a few hours and out of this hell,” she said.

“How did you ended up in there?” I asked, she rolls her eyes away and ignored.

The dog gets up and approach her and lie down next to her as he lie his head on the bed, she pets his head.

“What’s his name?” I asked.

“Loki,” she said.

“Vylad,” I said.

“Y/n as you already know,” she said.

“Sorry I hit you,” I said.

“I hit you first so let’s call it even.”

First chapter and there’s already a lot of information and questions. FYI, support or publish this an hour ago but I overslept to fuck it.

Bye!
