Quiet Lunch, Loud Heart

"I can't sit here anymore." He whispered. Everyone at his table watched silently as he descended further into panic, except one.

Todoroki re-packed his bento box while talking to the boy, who was already almost finished packing his stuff.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Todoroki asked quietly. Deku nodded, and waited for a few extra seconds while Todoroki got his things together.

Todoroki walked them over to an empty table in a quieter part of the cafeteria. Tears were streaming down Izuku's face.

"Do you wanna vent?" Todoroki asked, Deku shook his head, trying not to cry, his eyes were red from strained tears.

"Do you wanna try breathing with me?" Todoroki asked. Deku shook his head again.

"It's too loud." Deku whispered hoarsely.

"Do you wanna eat somewhere besides the cafeteria?" Todoroki asked. Deku nodded.

Todoroki heald his hand out for Midoriya to grab, "you lead the way." He grabbed it and the two boys made their way out of the cafeteria.

They ended up sitting outside Aizawa's classroom. After a few minutes Midoriya was calm enough to open up his lunch and eat a bit, making some calm conversation with Todoroki.

Towards the end of lunch Aizawa was coming back to his classroom. "What are you boys doing sitting over here instead of the lunchroom?" He asked.

"It was really loud today so we came to eat somewhere quieter." Todoroki said. Deku let out a small sigh of relief that he didn't have to talk.

Aizawa nodded, "okay. If you guys wanna come in the classroom to eat I'm fine with that." Todoroki nodded and Aizawa went in the classroom, leaving the door open a crack behind him.

Todoroki turned to Midoriya, "do you wanna finish in the classroom?" He asked. Midoriya shrugged, "I don't care."

As the hallways grew more busy, they ended up finishing in the classroom. Todoroki helped Midoriya catch up on his work as well.

The rest of the day went by pretty smoothly. No one knew what was going on behind closed doors.

That evening Deku walked home, not with Bakugo despite the fact that they lived in the same apartment complex and were neighbors. He could hear his parents yelling from outside, but there was another voice this time. Another guy.

A shiver sent through his body and settled in his bones.

He opened the front door only to see his mom yelling at his dad with another man screaming at her next to her.

His dad immediately noticed his presence and slammed Izuku against the front door, causing it to close, and locked it violently.

His dad yelled something at his mom and the mystery man while holding him by the collar.

"THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR CHEATING ON ME."

His dad punched him in the stomach. His mother didn't do anything more than flinch. His dad punched him again in the stomach, he could feel a bruise forming.

His father dropped him to the ground. He couldn't seem to shake the other man's gaze, it was uncomfortable.

Just as he thought it was over a kick came harshly go his stomach. He felt himself throw up, receiving a harsh kick on the back for doing so. It's not like he could control it.

His father stood on his back and pushed him into his own puddle of vomit. He still couldn't shake the unknown guys gaze, it was giving him the creeps.

The yelling increased and his dad lifted his foot, only to stomp it back down again. He felt his back crack, not in a breaking way just in a 'wow I havnt moved like that in a while!' way.

Inko stared at him as his dad grabbed his hair and lifted him up, he wailed in pain.

"YOU GIVE BIRTH TO THIS USELESS QUIRKLESS SHIT AND-"

"He's not quirkless." Inko mumbled. Deku's eyes went wide.

"What?" His dad was threateningly quiet.

"He's not quirkless." She said again.

Deku felt the grip on his hair tighten and suddenly his face had collided with it. Blood was gushing out of his nose and had streaked on the wall.

"SHOW ME." he screamed, "SHOW ME YOUR QUIRK YOU WORTHLESS SHIT."

Deku looked at him in fear, frozen in place.

"SHOW ME THE DAMN QUIRK YOU USELESS-" he screamed as he raised his hand. Izuku flinched backwards, raising his arms in front of his face, green lightning surrounding his body, crackling and rotating. It was aura-like.

His father grabbed his arm, "SHOW ME WHAT IT DOES." Deku flicked his finger, sending his dad flying back into a wall.

Deku grabbed his own wrist back, paralyzed in fear of what he had just done. There was a whirlwind of yelling, it was all muffled, like he was underwater.

He leaned against the wall, sliding down, covering his ears with his hands. The noise was dizzying as his brain tried to make sense of things. He felt like he couldn't breath, and in that moment he wished he had just taken more pills that one day in middle school.

Blood was splattered all over his clothes from his bloody nose and the gaze of the unknown man was completely unwavering. He felt pain in his stomach whenever he moved.

There was a sudden wave of heat and an unwavering burning on his side, he covered his face with his arm. His clothes cought on fire, his skin burning too quickly afterwards. His father had been angry enough to use his quirk. This day was a nightmare.

He felt someone grab his arm and drag him somewhere. His vision was flooded with black dots, his senses overwhelmed, everything felt completely numb. There was only the phantom of pain despite the fact that someone had intervened and pulled him out of the firey whirlwind. He was suprised the apartment wasn't on fire.

And just like that everything went completely dark.
