Rain and Regret

Midoriya was taken advantage of by the unknown guy who Inko was cheating with after they got a noise complaint (might've forgotten to write that detail in actually oh well) and his parents went elsewhere to argue.

He showered and left for UA. he forgot to do his homework. Someone just showed up as it started to rain...

"Problem child what are you doing here?" Aizawa said. Deku looked up, dark dark circles under his puffy eyes. So many alarm bells were going off in the man's head. The boy looked disheveled, his hair damp and not combed, his tie tied even worse than usual. His pants missing the belt that helped hold them up. His shirt untucked.

Aizawa reached out his hand to help him up after the boy didn't give an answer, "let's go inside. It's starting to rain.

Izuku took his hand and stood up with a wince. This small expression didn't go over Aizawa's head.

"Shouldn't you be asleep right now?" Aizawa asked once they were inside the school.

"Probably." Midoriya said shortly.

"So why aren't you?" Aizawa asked.

"I didn't wanna be at home."  He answered, a million more detailed answers running through his head.

"Why not?" Aizawa asked.

"My parents are just going through a fight right now and it was kinda.. loud and scary." Midoriya answered. It was only half the truth. Aizawa looked at him seriously, a suspicious glint in his eye.

"Have you slept?" Aizawa questioned. Izuku shook his head.

"Why not?" He pushed.

"Because I couldn't fall asleep." Midoriya answered, his heart pounding with all the questions.

"Did you take a shower?" Aizawa asked. Midoriya nodded, "I needed a distraction. And a shower." He said grimly, before Aizawa could ask.

"Midoriya is there something going on that you aren't telling me?" Aizawa asked. He wasn't gonna beat around the bush anymore and try to work it out of him.

"No." He answered simply, pulling out his homework from his bag.

Aizawa lowered the notebook from in front of the boys face.

"How much sleep have you gotten in the last 48 hours?" Aizawa asked, but it sounded more like a statement. Like he didn't have an option but to answer.

"No more than 2 hours."

"Look. Do you wanna sleep in my office today? I'll let you have the day off, it's obviously been rough for you lately." Aizawa offered. Deku hesitated.

As much as he would love to sleep, he knew it would be littered with nightmares.

"I can't." He whispered, the threat of tears tearing at his throat.

"Why not?" Aizawa asked calmly.

"Mr. Aizawa I can't do this anymore." Tears slipped out of his eyes, "I don't wanna go home."

"Kid you gotta tell me what's going on." Aizawa said.

Deku let out loud sobs. He wasn't holding back anymore, he couldn't hold it back anymore. A fifteen year old shouldn't have to handle this.

"Hey. You gotta calm down or you're gonna make yourself sick." Aizawa said calmly.

"I can't." Deku sobbed, "I c-cant."

"Yes you can. Just breathe with me okay? Breathe." His tone was oddly comforting all a sudden.

It took a little while, but Izuku finally reduced his crying to hiccups.

"Midoriya I need you to tell me what's going on. I can't help you unless you tell me what's happening." Aizawa said, "it doesn't have to be now. It just needs to happen soon okay?"

Deku nodded. "let's go up to my office." Aizawa said. Midoriya followed sluggishly.

Once they got there Aizawa opened a drawer and a yellow sleeping bag popped out, like it had just been released from a vaccume seal. It was crammed in there pretty tightly.

The man took it and laid it down in the corner of the room.

"This is my extra, I want you to try and get some sleep." Aizawa said, "when was the last time you ate?"

"The apple you have me yesterday." He said quietly. Aizawa nodded, "mkay. Okay. Can I leave you alone in here?"

Izuku nodded, "yeah." Aizawa, "I'll come check up on you okay?"

Aizawa stepped outside of the room and closed the door quietly behind him.  He pulled out his phone and dialled present Mic (presentation Micheal)

"Mic. I know it's your day off but I need you to cover my class." He said.

"What? Shouta why. It's pride month your being homophobic." Mic said over the phone.

"I'm literally fucking gay." Aizawa mumbled under his breath before continuing, "I'm sorry. I need you to cover. Please." There was something beyond serious in his tone.

"Woah babe. What's going on? Are you okay? Did something happen on patrol last night?" Mic asked over the phone.

"There's something going on with problem child." Aizawa said.

"Oh Midoriya? Is he okay?" Mic asked worriedly.

"I don't think so. There's something going on, and I think I know what. I'll fill you in later, I just need to be with him today. He hasn't slept for 48 hours." Aizawa said.

"Okay. I'll cover for you. Make sure he's okay. I'd hate to see something bad happen to the kid." Mic said.

Aizawa didn't have the heart to tell him that something, most likely, already had.

Izuku laid down on the yellow sleeping bag, it was surprisingly comfortable. He turned on some Minecraft music on his phone, hoping that it would help him stay asleep.

He zipped up the side and the second he laid his whole body down, he fell asleep. He didn't stay asleep for long though. His thoughts and dreams were plagued by what had happened. The taste, the feel, the yelling.

He awoke with a gasp. Tears streaming down his face. He heard a soft knock on the door before Aizawa walked in, holding a bag and a cup of coffee. Seeing his distressed state Aizawa set the things down and knelt down next to him.

"What happened?" Aizawa asked.

Deku opened his mouth to talk, but closed it again with a shiver. He couldn't talk about it. "I had a nightmare." He said after a moment.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" Aizawa asked, "it might feel better not to handle it all on your own."

"I can't." Izuku whispered.

"You can't what?" Aizawa asked.

"Talk about it." Izuku said shaking his head, "I don't want to."

Aizawa looked at him seriously, "there's a difference between can't and don't want to. Which one is it."

Izuku looked to the door nervously. A million thoughts racing in his head, the one of the all might figurine melting sticking in the front.

"I don't want to." Izuku lied, memories from earlier playing in his head. He couldn't find the remote to make it stop.

Aizawa grabbed the bag off his desk and handed it to deku, "I got you a bagel and a bottle of water. There's some cream cheese and butter in there, whichever you prefer."

Deku took the bag and pulled out the water, the thought of eating sounded terrible. He took small sips.

"Thank you." He said. Aizawa nodded, taking a sip of his coffee.

Deku stared at the bagel he had lightly buttered before taking a small bite. His stomach immediately thanked him, begging for more. He smiled to himself at the fact that it was making him feel a little better.

He took another bite, finishing off the first half. Aizawa smiled at him, glad the boy was eating.

"Thank you for the bagel Mr. Aizawa." Deku said as he finished. Aizawa nodded, "no problem kid." He reached out to ruffle the kids hair but he flinched backwards, his eyes wide with a flash of fear.

Izuku couldn't find the words to explain. And just like that he was close to tears again. He couldn't look Mr. Aizawa in the eye.

"S-sorry." He said shakily.

"Midoriya are your parents hurting you?" Aizawa asked quietly, "this is a safe space. Nothing bad will happen to you here."

"I don't wanna talk about it." He answered.

"Midoriya you have to talk about it at some point." Aizawa said, "I can't have one of my students in a potentially unsafe situation." He said.

"It's not unsafe. I'm fine." Izuku said. Aizawa raised an eyebrow, "why have you been flinching anytime someone slightly raises a hand at you.

"I'm just jumpy and on edge. It's not like that! my parents don't..." He trailed off. He hated lying. Aizawa sighed, starting to believe maybe he had taken this all the wrong way.

"Look kid. I'm gonna send you home at the end of the schoolday then and I'm gonna give you my phone number. You are going to call me if there is any trouble." Aizawa said. Izuku nodded, "okay." He couldn't stop his hands from shaking.

They got the phone numbers set up, tested it, and Izuku walked himself home.
