The moving truck rumbled to a stop, finally delivering the last of my boxes to the front of my new house on MyStreet. A surge of excitement bubbled up inside me. This was it. A fresh start. And, best of all, I was finally close enough to see my twin brother, Aaron.
I hurried to lock the door behind me, eager to find him. A few houses down, I spotted him outside, tinkering with his motorcycle.
“Aaron!” I shouted, breaking into a sprint. He turned, surprised, but a grin quickly spread across his face.
I launched myself into his arms, wrapping my arms around him as tightly as I could manage.
“Y/N?! What are you doing in MyStreet?” he exclaimed, hugging me back fiercely before gently lowering me to the ground.
“I moved in a few days ago,” I said, beaming.
“Really?” He asked, his eyes sparkling with genuine surprise.
“Yup!” I confirmed happily.
“Hey, why don’t I walk you over to Aphmau’s house?” Aaron offered. “She’s just down the street.”
“Yay! Let’s go!” I chirped, already anticipating meeting her. He hoisted me onto his back, giving me a piggyback ride as we walked toward another house. He knocked on the door.
“Hey, Aaron,” a girl said as the door opened. She had dark hair, with streaks of purple woven through it.
“Hey, Aphmau,” Aaron replied, stepping inside. I was still clinging to his back.
“Hey purple-haired girl!” I blurted out, unable to resist a playful jab. Aaron swatted my ankle playfully.
“Oh hey. Who are you?” Aphmau asked, her eyes curious.
“My name is Y/N, and Aaron is *mine*!” I blurted out, giggling as I dramatically tumbled backward, performing a clumsy flip to land on my feet.
“What do you mean ‘mine’?” Aphmau asked, a flicker of hurt crossing her features.
“Oh, I’m so sorry! He’s my big brother. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, Aph!” I quickly apologized, mortified by my impulsive remark.
“Big brother?” Aphmau asked, her expression softening as I nodded enthusiastically.
“Aaron! You have a lot of explaining to do!” Aphmau exclaimed, turning to Aaron with a playful sternness.
I couldn’t help but smile. It seemed like my arrival had stirred up a little bit of chaos – and I was already loving it.
