Crimson bleeds into the perpetual twilight of Harrowgate, a coastal town choked by salt-laced fog and the weight of forgotten sins. The manor, Blackwood House, clings to the cliffs like a barnacle on a rotting hull, mirroring the decay within the Morrow family. Old Man Morrow, they say, brokered with shadows for his wealth, and now his legacy festers in the crumbling estate. A creeping dread seeps from the moorland, clinging to the hems of skirts and the throats of livestock. Each sunset is a slow drowning in scarlet, mirroring the blood that’s stained the Blackwood floors for generations. The air tastes of brine and regret, laced with whispers of drowned sailors and the restless spirits of those claimed by the sea. A fragile, fever-bright beauty clings to the daughters of the house, shadowed by a hunger that gnaws at their inheritance. The very stones of Harrowgate weep with a sorrow that’s been accumulating for decades, threatening to swallow the living in a tide of red dusk and the encroaching, inevitable Morrow. It’s a place where the line between waking and nightmare dissolves, where the sea calls to those already lost, and where the past isn’t dead, but waiting to claim its due.
